Special WCD 106th Anniversary Fundraiser Event
May 6, 2022

Woman’s Club of Douglaston  (WCD) will celebrate its 106th Anniversary with a fundraiser on

Friday, May 6, 2022, commencing at 11:00 am at North Hills Country Club, 200 Long Island Expressway, North Service Road, Manhasset, NY 11030.

This special event commemorates the founding of WCD in 1916 and will include a luncheon, period costume fashion show, vendors, raffle, and an exhibit of historical documents, news clippings and proclamations from elected officials. In addition to the WCD’s 100+ members, the reception is open to the community.  A portion of the proceeds will be used for WCD’s charitable donations to groups that support women and children and other worthwhile causes. Some recipients of WCD’s donations have included Bridge to Life, Mary by the Sea, Hour Children of Long Island City, Animal Haven, Shoes for All, Blue Jeans Go Green, and Ozanam Hall Nursing Home of Queens.

We are a women's organization located in Douglaston, N.Y.

We are a fellowship of women dedicated to community service for the purpose of enhancing the lives of others as well as our own through volunteerism as we cooperate with other organizations in advancing the welfare of the community.

Throughout the year, our various committees and club members are busy planning wide-ranging events to support local charities. We emphasize giving back to the community, both financial and in-kind, and are always open to suggestion for future deserving applicants. Virtually all of Douglaston and surrounding areas have benefited at one time or another since our inception in 2016, from our fund-raisings like our annual luncheon, mini bake sales, among others, to benefit and support incarcerated women and their children,  and many other endeavors.  As our members become aware of and get involved in these efforts, it produces a "snowball effect"  with more and more  members reaching  out to local organizations and expanding our outreach.
